Hangover Tea.....What's in it!?

Ginger

Ginger root has long been used as a medicinal food. Its best known for it’s ability to calm an upset stomach ( who doesn’t remember ginger ale and saltines?). It’s a traditional natural remedy for nausea and indigestion. Two new research studies show ginger also aids circulation which is beneficial to heart health and can help balance blood sugar levels.

With its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, ginger is also an amazing immune booster, especially when combined with its super star cousin, turmeric.

Turmeric

Seriously, Superstar. And it has been since 1700 BC. It’s medicinal use dates back that far. Although now, some benefits are more studied than others, the positives of this root are undeniable.

The antioxidant effect of turmeric is well documented. It’s ability to fight free radicals

benefits every system in the body. Use of turmeric as an anti-inflammatory  dates back centuries in Ayurvedic medicine. Turmeric not only reduces existing inflammation but can stop your body from producing the chemicals that initiate inflammation the first place.

Turmeric aids digestion, promotes heart health, and aids in regulating blood sugar. Research is continuing but turmeric may also improve liver function and improve detoxification.

Milk Thistle

The research has been done and this seed is all about liver health and support.  It supports detoxification through enhancing liver as well as kidney and pancreatic function. Milk thistle contains antioxidants that work to detoxify the body and eliminate harmful actors such as free radicals. The effects of alcohol on the liver are well documented and milk thistle can help counteract those issues.

Chamomile

Chamomile is one of the oldest, most widely used and well documented medicinal plants in the world. It has been shown to benefit the nervous system, digestive system, immune system, and can improve sleep quality.

It’s calming effects have been shown to help with feelings of anxiety and depression.

Its anti-inflammatory properties make it a powerful immune booster and digestive aid.

Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is an adaptogen that is gaining attention for its documented ability to modulate stress and anxiety.  Another benefit is its ability to lower blood sugar. These physiological effects are interrelated; “less stress equals lower cortisol levels which equals better blood sugar control,” according to Dr. Andrea Fossati.

Translated; ashwagandha can help with feelings of “hanxiety” and may prevent you from craving the traditional fast food run since your blood sugar is regulated.

Peppermint

Peppermint is a wonder (non) drug. It has anti inflammatory qualities which can ease headaches. It’s antiseptic and antibacterial properties can aid in relieving stomach issues such as indigestion, gas, bloating, diarrhea and vomiting.

It has the impressive ability to be calming and soothing yet energizing at the same time.
